General Strategy for Factoring Polynomials
(Step 1) Is there a greatest common factor?
-> Factor out the greatest common factor (Distributive Property).
(Step 2) Is the polynomial a binomial, trinomial, or are there more than three terms?
If it is a binomial: Use the Difference of Squares Pattern, Sum/Difference of Cubes Pattern, etc.
If it is a trinomial: Use the Reverse FOIL, Perfect Square Trinomials Pattern, etc.
If there are more than three terms: Use the Grouping Method.
